Creative industries in Prince Edward County consist of enterprising people with creative sensibilities. Prince Edward County was founded on people, enterprise and creativity. We have a thriving creative industry with diverse opportunities ready for the taking. A 2006 study for the Ontario Arts Council said the County has the most artists as a percentage of the local labour force than any other county outside Toronto. People who specialize in design or multi-media or film and video production have gravitated here to be surrounded by rural calm and a like-minded peer group. These people are using the internet to live their dream while catering to clients across the country. Enterprising people have already tethered here, and you’re invited to harness your creativity and come join us!
Meet Bill Reddick, Reddick Studio Porcelain
Over 20 years ago, while attending Queen's University, Bill stumbled across Prince Edward County and says he was, "overwhelmed with the beauty, the architecture, the age of the place and the combination of the water and rural land." Shortly there after, Bill decided it was time to do something about that dream, and he did. One dilapidated schoolhouse later, he is one of Canada's most recognized names in the world of pottery. Recently this Picton-based potter was invited to design dinnerware for Prime Minister Stephen Harper. Bill has also created Canada's state dinnerware, "The Maple Leaf Service" which was commissioned by former Governor General Adrienne Clarkson and her husband, John Ralston Saul. It is the official porcelain service for Rideau Hall.
