Diane Walker will always call the County home. So when the disappearing canning industry caused her family farm near Milford to flounder, she decided to adapt. It was 25 years ago that Diane converted what had been known for its tomatoes as Millerdale Farms into Walker’s Greenhouse. She now grows flowers and perennials in five greenhouses with help from a sizable staff and neighbouring family members, including her husband and son, who run an auto-shop across the street. Diane specializes in innovative hanging baskets and proudly welcomes back her favourite customers each season. Diane and her team also avoid chemicals and pesticides, opting instead for insect-eating bugs for pest control.
